1: Weapon Safe - Portable Gun Safe overview.

This portable Weapon Safe will secure up to 8 handguns including 22's, 38's, 9 mm's, 357 magnum or old navy 450 powder handguns.

It must be clearly understood that the Hide Away Safe - Weapon Safe is not approved, as yet, as a stand alone permanent storage facility for handguns in the home.

It is however being used by State and Territory Police Force in Australia under a risk management regime in one way or another to secure handguns in vehicles. Potential users should independently verify its approval for use in their particular mobile situation.

3: Hide Away Safe - Weapon Safe consists of four components.

Docking Station

The Docking Station is easily installed to almost any flat surface and at any angle, even upside down, using screws, bolts or ACRYLIC (water based) glue into which the Weapon Safe slides in and locks with the supplied SCEC Endorsed High Security Abloy PROTEC Key. Once locked the Weapon Safe conceals all fastenings used to install the Docking Station eg. screws or bolts.

Weapon Safe

The lid on the Weapon Safe locks in or out of the Docking Station with the supplied High Security Abloy PROTEC Key. This allows the Weapon Safe to be taken from one location to another without the contents being exposed.

How...

Unlock the Weapon Safe with the supplied high security Abloy PROTEC Key, remove the Weapon Safe about 50mm (2 inches) then lock the lid, then completely remove the Weapon Safe from its Docking Station. Take the Weapon Safe to another previously installed Docking Station slide it in and when its about two thirds in un-lock it, then slide it all the way into the Docking Station then lock it.

Customised Heavy Duty Double Cam

Fitted to the back of the Abloy PROTEC Lock inside the Weapon Weapon Safe is a customised heavy duty double cam. When the Weapon Safe lid is closed and the High Security Abloy PROTEC Key is turned 180 degrees the cam secures the lid to the Weapon Safe through two specially designed slots in the lid.

High Security SCEC Endorsed Abloy PROTEC Lock.

Abloy PROTEC (Ultra) High Security Lock includes a customised heavy duty double cam and two Nickel Silver Abloy PROTEC Keys. It has a possible 1.97 billion different key combinations, it cannot be drilled and is mechanically impossible to pick. It is the World’s First Un-Pickable Lock. Used for keyed alike and individually keyed safes or is an exceptional (cost effective) Master Key System, including Master, Grand Master and Grand Grand Master Keys.

4: Why did we design the Hide Away Safe - Weapon Safe.

Between 1990 and June 1993 a couple of thousand man hours was invested in the design, material selection, manufacturing techniques and testing of what we originally named mk2 Hide Away Safe. In 1993 after nearly 3 years of research and development the Australia designed and manufactured mk2 Hide Away Safe became available for sale.

Hide Away Safe was designed to be installed in a:

• Residential Home
• Apartment
• Office
• Factory
• Caravan
• Motor Home
• Plus any other type of Vehicle eg. Sedan, Station Wagon, Hatch, 4 Wheel Drive

Note: All locations with DIY installation vehicles and all other locations.

Then in early 1995 we received an enquiry from a Police Officer working with Victorian Police who saw the Hide Away Safe at a Home Show in Melbourne we were exhibiting in.

5 months later after numerous discussions we sold a number of mk2 Hide Away Safe we named Handgun Safe (opens in a new window) to the Victorian Police. We only had to make one change to the mk2 Hide Away Safe we have been selling as a Home Safe since 1993. We had to change the lock from an Abloy Classic high security lock to the SCEC endorsed Abloy PROTEC Lock.

At the same period of time we were developing a larger version of the mk2 Hide Away Safe due to the increasing theft of laptops from homes and cars over the previous couple of years as there was no other Portable Safe sold world-wide to specifically secure a Laptop when left unattended in a Vehicle, Residential Home, Office including a Caravan or Motor Home.

In early in 1996 the mk3 Hide Away Safe we named Laptop Safe (opens in a new window) was available for sale and two weeks later we made a version with the Abloy PROTEC Lock and named it Weapon Safe.

We showed the Weapon Safe to the Victorian Police and a couple of months later they purchased a number of Weapon safes. Since then until now we have sold countless numbers of both Handgun Safe and Weapon Safe to Police, Customs and other law enforcement agencies in every state and territory in Australia including many other countries.

5: Weapon Safe includes.

• 1 x Docking Station
• 1 x Weapon Safe with convoluted foam glued to the inside of the lid and the Weapon Safe bottom has a Flocked finish, see "what is Flocking" below.
• Abloy PROTEC Lock
• 1 x Customised Heavy Duty Double Cam

• Foldback Handle fitted to the front of the Weapon Safe.

6: What is Flocking.

Flocking is a heavy duty automotive grade velvet/suede finish, used on past Ford LTD range on selected internal fixtures. The flocking is electrostatically fired into a special adhesive resulting in both a hard wearing and protective coating that puts a beautiful finishing touch to selected internal parts of the Hide Away Safe.

As you have previously read this High Security Safe is made from Lexan and comes in two parts, the Hide Away Safe and Docking Station that is installed to almost any flat surface on any angle even up side down then, the Hide Away Safe slides into the Docking Station and locked with the world's highest security Abloy Lock.

Lexan being Light-Weight and Virtually Indestructible and the method used to lock the Hide Away Safe in its Docking Station allows you to secure your valuables where you live, work or in any Vehicle.

Please Note: Install two or more Docking Stations allows you to move and secure the Hide Away Safe from one Docking Station to another eg, Home to Car, Car to work place and vice versa.
